280 COMPONENTS DELIVERED SUCCESSFULLY |
October 2019
More than 45% of the 610 wind turbine components have already been delivered to Kangnas Wind Farm’s construction site, just outside of Springbok, from the West Coast’s Port of Saldanha and Atlantis.
The first tower sections departed from Atlantis, West Coast of Cape Town in May this year, with blades, generators and other components travelling from the Port of Saldanha. It is expected that all 610 turbine components, weighing over 30 000 tonnes, will reach the wind farm’s construction by April 2020.
When complete, this wind farm will have the capacity to generate 563,5 GWh/year of clean, renewable power into South Africa’s national power grid. This is equivalent to the energy needs of 120 000 homes, each year.
