BACK TO SCHOOL PROGRAMME EMPOWERS LOCAL LEARNERS |
February 2024.
In a heartfelt display of collective community support, learners from across 11 primary schools in Namaqualand recently received a much-needed boost for the new school year through a back-to-school initiative. Held earlier this month, this initiative ensured that more than 100 young learners in need are equipped with essential backpacks and stationery, paving the way for a successful year ahead.
Funded in collaboration with Kangnas Wind Farm and Xhaus Development, each beneficiary received a Kangnas branded backpack and a pencil case filled with essential stationery, ensuring they are equipped for success in their studies.
“This collaborative programme focuses on addressing the needs of the community. As the programme continues to grow, we are confident that it will have lasting and profound effects on education outcomes and community wellbeing,” expressed Rouchet Daniels, Economic Development Manager for Kangnas Wind Farm.
Furthermore, Kangnas Wind Farm also teamed up with Radio NFM, 8271 Bikers and Xhaus Development on a “Skoolbank Projek” to extend their support. With the community rallying behind the cause and donating generously, the initiative addressed broader needs such as school uniforms, shoes, backpacks, and stationery.
“The back-to-school programme is of paramount importance to all our areas where we are affected by negative economic pressure. The project was able to assist learners with school needs, which then also leads to economic relief in households, as many people rely on Sassa grants. We appreciate the wind farm’s efforts to reach out to vulnerable communities and empower learners,” said Monique Lesch, Director of Xhaus Development.
The beneficiary schools included: Concordia Primary, Okiep Primary, JJ Lambert Primary, Kharkams Combined School, Matjieskloof RK Primary School, Sacred Heart Primary School, St Cyprians Primary School, PSS Primary, Carolusberg Primary, and Dr Izak van Niekerk Primary.
