COMMUNITY OLD AGE CENTRE RECEIVES A BOOST |
June 2019
Kangnas Wind Farm has provided support to the Concordia Old Age Centre in Springbok, to help establish a dedicated reading area for its elderly citizens.
The team working on Kangnas Wind Farm, one of the country’s newest Northern Cape wind farms currently under construction, have taken up this cause personally. Books are being donated as well as a bookshelf to display the new reading material.
“We have had so much fun sourcing books for senior community members and believe that reading is such a comforting hobby for retirees, and would particularly like to thank the District library in De Aar for their contribution,” said Cheryl Persensie, Economic Development Manager for Kangnas Wind Farm.
The wind farm’s team supports the research that show how seniors who read often enjoy many benefits, from reducing stress and enhancing sleep to improving memory and possibly even delaying the onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, which are all great reasons to support libraries in senior centres.
