FUN WAS HAD AS LEARNERS CELEBRATED MANDELA DAY |
July 2022.
As part of the Mandela Day celebration this year, grade 3 learners from Sacred Heart Primary School and St Cypria Primary School, in Nababeep, were presented with school supplies and a garden starter kit.
Kangnas Wind Farm Project office staff will visit these schools every third month to assess the progress of their gardens for a year, after which a prize will be awarded to the school making the most progress.
The learners were engaged in fun activities, including role-playing Nelson Mandela’s history and growing their own garden. To help them start their gardens, we distributed four types of seeds to each school: green pepper seeds, onion seeds, pumpkin seeds, and beetroot seeds,” said Rouchet Daniels, Economic Development Manager for Kangnas Wind Farm.
A lunch pack, colouring pencils, and sports water bottles were donated to each learner by Kangnas Wind Farm, with each school also receiving three boxes of copy paper.
Observed annually on 18 July, Mandela Day is dedicated to honouring the legacy of Nelson Mandela and is an occasion for all to take action and inspire change.
