LOCAL LUCERNE AND FODDER SUPPLIER RECEIVES TRUCK

As a beneficiary of an agri-programme, aimed to support and benefit SMME’s in the Nama Khoi area, lucerne grower and fodder supplier, Arenda Saal, Director of Saclova, was pleased to receive an eight-tonne truck that will certainly help push-up output of this micro enterprise.

“Our vision is to strive for success and to be able to plough back into our community to serve them and make a difference in our farmers’ lives,” said Arenda Saal, Director of Saclova, which has plans to increase local employment and its agricultural output, to supply products to local farmers to plant their own fodder crops.

This is one of the local SMME’s that has received financial and non-financial support, for a full 12 month period, funded by Kangas Wind Farm, as part of its Enterprise Development initiatives, aimed to boost the local agricultural economy.

“Agriculture is a key sector of the Namaqualand economy, however, the protracted drought, coupled with the effects of COVID-19 has made it difficult for emerging farmers to expand their businesses,” explained Kangnas Wind Farm’s spokesperson, the programme’s funder.

This agri-campaign attracted local entrepreneurs, who benefitted from a collaborative partnership with Kangnas Wind Farm, Radio NFM, the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) and Step-Up Foundation. The beneficiary agri-entrepreneurs receive the essential support focused on financial record-keeping, business analysis and planning, market development, market readiness in addition to essential equipment to help increase production, business growth and ensure that this small business are sustainable.

In addition to the vehicle, the SMME also received office equipment, a laptop, business, financial, marketing, visioning, compliance, and systems support, in addition to other essential goods.
