NAMAQUALAND HIGH SCHOOL LEARNERS GET EXCITED ABOUT GREEN POWER |
MARCH 2020
264 learners from High School Namaqualand had fun learning about wind energy and other renewable energy forms. This is part of Kangnas Wind Farm’s school roadshow. The programme drives awareness and is aimed at exposing learners to the basics of renewable energy.
It is reported that the learners at High School Namaqualand were very interested in seeing wind turbines and would like to visit the Kangnas Wind Farm.
The session was informative and interactive, allowing pupils the opportunity to answer questions and win pencil cases with stationery.
The programme targets hundreds of high school learners to not only provide information about producing clean energy, but also to let the youth know about the opportunities available to them, relating to careers inherent in harnessing wind energy.
The objectives of the programme included education and awareness around wind energy; encouraging an interest in renewable energy career fields; helping learners understand the construction process and how their specific community will benefit from having a wind farm on its doorstep, both during and after construction.
