RECOVERY OF TURBINE COMPONENTS

OCTOBER 2019

The Disaster Management Centre of West Coast District Municipality has confirmed that the recovery of turbine components, from the Piekenierskloof Pass, will take place over a 4-day period, 4th – 7th November 2019.

A ‘Stop and Go’ system will be put in place on the Piekenierskloof Pass, with the assistance of SANRAL during the recovery operation. Abnormal loads travelling this route, will continue to use the route, with care taken to ensure the loads can pass safely.

Key stakeholders in the operation include SANRAL, who will have an environmental representative present. Other parties include: Provincial Traffic Services, Emergency Medical Services, Western Cape Education Department, Bergrivier Municipality, Cederberg Municipality and the transportation company.
